Later Prehistoric Norfolk Project
Archaeological Research with community inputs.
30 August 2022 – ongoing
Funding: Society of Antiquaries, Norfolk and Norwich Archaeological Society; NLHF (pending)
A community archaeology project designed with health and wellbeing as a central aim. The Later Prehistoric Norfolk Project will explore under researched aspects of Norfolk’s past beginning with excavations at Arminghall Henge just to the south of Norwich. We plan to explore a number of prehistoric landscapes using a range of archaeological techniques and theoretical frameworks. This project builds on the work undertaken by Historic England with Norfolk County Council in mapping prehistoric monuments discovered through aerial photography. Volunteers will be involved at every stage of the project and will be empowered to contribute to research goals.
